New Survey Launch! Share Your Thoughts on Access to Gender Affirming Care
Gender affirming care is reproductive justice, and we want to make it accessible to everyone in Alberta! We are launching a survey to hear what you want to see for gender affirming care for trans, Two-Spirit, and gender expansive people living outside of Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta
We recognize that every gender journey is unique. Gender affirming care looks different for different people and so do the barriers to accessing that care. There is no shortage of work to be done when it comes to making gender affirming care accessible.
Privacy as Resistance: Navigating Care in Small Communities. We recognize the complexities queer people face when accessing care and community events, especially if they are not ready to share that about themselves to everyone in their life. Outside of major urban centres, our communities are small. Systemic barriers are magnified when those systems are filled with people who know you personally. How does your access to healthcare change if your auntie works at the only pharmacy nearby? Or, how do you navigate community events if your sibling is the custodian at the community centre rented for a queer education workshop? Getting care close to where you live may seem like the best option, but we know this isn’t always the case for everyone.
We will continue to advocate for a world where everyone can be their whole, authentic selves in every setting. In the meantime, you shouldn’t have to choose between safety and access. We want to know what works best for you!
Nothing about us without us! What do you need to feel included in education opportunities, social events, and access to care? Share your vision for how we can support you in accessing gender affirming care!
Your voice is the blueprint for this expansion. Help us build a system that actually works for you. Fill out the survey here: https://forms.gle/KnDEw3ero7eF2ziVA
