Their commitment makes one thing clear: access to care cannot depend on political whims. It must be built, protected, and strengthened by the community itself.
And that’s exactly what this campaign is about.
Meet Aaron and Amanda
Amanda, a lifelong Lethbridgian, and Aaron, who came to Alberta from Nova Scotia, both grew up with humble beginnings and a shared belief that wealth and power should be used to uplift communities. When their unexpected lottery win made them multi-millionaires, they immediately began asking how they could meaningfully give back.
Their journey led them to Pro-Choice YQL, where they found a group of people deeply committed to expanding reproductive and gender-affirming healthcare in southern Alberta. In this video, Amanda and Aaron reflect on their improbable story, their values, and their decision to pledge $1.2 million toward building sustainable, accessible care in Lethbridge and the surrounding rural region.
Warm, candid, and genuinely funny, their story is ultimately about community, responsibility, and what it means to use unexpected good fortune to create real change — and now you can be part of that impact by donating to help match their $1.2 million gift and bring accessible reproductive care to southern Alberta.

Kelti Baird
“So important to have this resourceful group in southern Alberta where women’s/wymyn’s/xwomen’s rights would be readily stripped. Very grateful.”
Mel Lefebvre
“Informative and nessecary. There are too many closed minds in this area, who use misinformation to spread their hate. Pro-Choice Society is essential.”

Your donation directly impacts individuals facing significant barriers to accessing abortion care. In Alberta, in-clinic abortion services are available only in Calgary and Edmonton, creating financial and logistical challenges for those who live outside these cities. Here's how your support makes a difference:
Travel Assistance
Many individuals must travel long distances for care. Your donation helps cover the costs of:
Transportation: Fuel, bus tickets, or taxi fares to and from clinics.
Overnight Accommodations: Safe places to stay when a same-day return isn’t possible.
Food and Essentials: Meals, hygiene products, and other travel supplies to ensure comfort during the journey.
Affordable Contraception
Long-lasting, reversible birth control methods like IUDs and Nexplanon implants are essential for reproductive autonomy. These options cost $350–$400, a prohibitive expense for many. Your donation helps make these options accessible.
Your generosity ensures that individuals can overcome financial and logistical hurdles, accessing the care they need with dignity and support. Thank you for standing with us to make reproductive healthcare equitable and barrier-free.
