Pro-Choice YQL’s goal is to empower individuals in Southern Alberta with the knowledge and resources necessary to make informed choices about their reproductive health and sexual wellness. We are dedicated to advocating for access to safe and legal abortion services, contraception, and comprehensive sexual education.
Our vision is a future where reproductive justice is a reality for all. We firmly believe that every person in Southern Alberta deserves the reproductive care they require, free from judgment, discrimination, and stigma.
We are committed to building a more equitable and inclusive future by championing the rights of individuals to make decisions about their own bodies and lives. We aim to foster a community where reproductive healthcare is readily accessible and celebrated as a fundamental component of overall health and well-being.

Pro-Choice YQL acknowledges that we operate on the traditional land of the Blackfoot Confederacy, which includes the Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika First Nations. We also recognize the Tsuut'ina First Nation and the Stoney Nakoda, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations. We honour and respect the longstanding Indigenous presence and their ongoing stewardship of this territory. We are committed to learning from and collaborating with Indigenous communities as we work towards reproductive justice and equitable healthcare for all in this land we call home.
History
The Pro-Choice Society of Lethbridge & Southern Alberta has a rich history rooted in the passion and determination of a dedicated group of individuals. Our journey began with the recognition of a pressing need for increased access to accurate information and essential services related to reproductive health care.
We faced a significant challenge when harmful and misleading anti-abortion advertisements started appearing on transit buses, shelters, and benches throughout Lethbridge. Recognizing the harmful impact these ads had on our community, we came together and launched a campaign to have them removed. Through our collective efforts and with the support of the community, we successfully lobbied the City of Lethbridge to take down these ads. This achievement marked a significant milestone in our ongoing mission for reproductive justice.
However, we know that our work is far from complete. We are committed to ensuring that individuals in our region have access to comprehensive reproductive health care, including safe and legal abortion services. We continue to advocate tirelessly, engaging in public awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, and collaborations with local healthcare providers and organizations.
The Pro-Choice Society of Lethbridge & Southern Alberta is fueled by the belief that every person deserves the autonomy and agency to make decisions about their own bodies and lives. We will not rest in our efforts to create a future where reproductive health care is accessible, supported, and free from judgment.
